✓ Thomas le Despenser (Dispensator), dispensator of the Earls of Chester, father of Thomas (d. by Oct 1218), of Hugh of Loughborough (d. 1238) and of Roese, wife of Stephen de Segrave: Complete Peerage IV p.259 note (c), from the Segrave Cartulary (Harl. MS 4748) - 'Thomas Dispensator gave to Stephen de Segrave with Roese his daughter in free marriage a rent in Burton', and Hugh confirmed it 'to Stephen de Segrave and Roese sister of the said Hugh'. CP adds that Elyas Dispensator, enfeoffed in Arnesby by Hugh de Beauchamp, 'must be an ancestor of this family', but does not place him - FLOOR. Wife unknown. Source: Complete Peerage (2nd ed.)
