About

Turlogh Bog O'Brien - the byname means the Soft or the Gentle, and it seems to have been earned in manner rather than in war, for the pedigrees remember him as the hero of the fights at Glen Fogarty and Ballyanfoil. A younger son of Brian of Nenagh, he died in 1459, and the later princes of Thomond descend from him.
