Vazul of Hungary

✓ Vazul (Vaszoly), Duke ([976/78]-early 1037), son of Mihaly by [Adelajda] (Gesta Hungarorum: 'Wazul et Zar Ladislaum' sons of 'Mihal...frater Geichae'; Chronicon Varadiense the same; the Kronika Wegiersko-Polska alone makes him a son of Geza); rebelled against St Stephen and was blinded (Gesta: on Queen Gisela's orders); father of Andras I, Bela I and Levente. Wife: Medieval Lands brackets her as a daughter of Tsar Samuil of Bulgaria, no primary source; the Gesta reports a claim that the sons were by 'quadam virgine de genere Tatun' - not wired. Source: Medieval Lands (fmg.ac, Cawley), read 3 Nov 2026: 'Hungary, Kings'.
