About
William Blount, fourth Baron Mountjoy, was Erasmus's pupil, then his patron, and finally his lifelong friend: it was at Mountjoy's invitation that Erasmus first came to England, and Erasmus dedicated work to him. He was tutor to the young Henry the Eighth. He died in 1534, and his daughter Catherine married Sir Maurice Berkeley, the standard-bearer.
