About
Margaret FitzGerald, Countess of Ormond, was called the Great Countess. Daughter of one of the two great Irish dynasties and wife to the head of the other, she built and administered on a scale that impressed and alarmed her contemporaries, founded a college at Kilkenny, and was widely thought to be the abler half of the marriage.
