William la Zouche

~ William la Zouche (d. before 3 Feb 1272), son of Roger la Zouche (I100506): as 'Willielmus la Zouche, filius Rogeri la Zouche' he confirmed gifts to Swavesey by 'Rogeri patris nostri ac...Alani Zouche avi nostri'. m. Maud, widow of --- de Trailly (writ 3 Feb 56 Hen. III on the manor of Hobrugg). Father of Joyce, wife of Robert de Mortimer of Richard's Castle: Complete Peerage records this, proved (it says) by King's Nympton, Devon, granted to William by his father Roger in 1237/38 and held by his grandson Hugh Lord Mortimer at death in 1304; Eyton calls William only the 'alleged' ancestor of Zouche of Mortimer.
