Alice Camoys was a daughter of Thomas, Lord Camoys, by his first wife Elizabeth Louches, and she married Sir Leonard Hastings. Her parentage matters more than most: the printed pedigrees long made her a daughter of the second wife, Elizabeth Mortimer, which would have carried this family to Edward the Third. Douglas Richardson established that she was not, and the road to the Plantagenets closed.

✓ DOCUMENTED, MATERNITY RESOLVED 23 Jul 2026 (Richardson, Plantagenet Ancestry 2004, via the standard online digests quoting him): ALICE, dau. of THOMAS, LORD CAMOYS, **by his 1ST wife ELIZABETH LOUCHES** - NOT by Elizabeth Mortimer. The old Mortimer claim (which would have carried this line to Lionel of Antwerp and EDWARD III, and through Elizabeth de Burgh to Elizabeth de Clare) is a corrected error: THE EDWARD III GATEWAY IS CLOSED - a negative result, honestly recorded, and the ~ flag that kept the Mortimer rung unwired did its job (cf. the Lane case). m. c. 1424 Sir Leonard Hastings; d. 1455. Richardson's children-list for her includes "Elizabeth, wife of Sir John Donne" - independent corroboration of I99588's filiation. Direct ancestress. Added 23 Jul 2026; maternity resolved same day.
