Research notes

✓ DOCUMENTED (Standard account (National Gallery Donne-Triptych literature; Richardson, Plantagenet Ancestry; CP) - relaxed-rule entry 23 Jul 2026, provenance so noted.; and named "domine Elizabeth uxori mee", sole executrix and life-tenant, in her husband's will PROB 11/13/421, read 23 Jul 2026): ELIZABETH HASTINGS, wife of Sir John Donne of Kidwelly - SHE KNEELS OPPOSITE HIM IN MEMLING'S DONNE TRIPTYCH; sister of WILLIAM, LORD HASTINGS (Edward IV's chamberlain, executed without trial by Richard III, June 1483 - collateral); dau. of Sir Leonard Hastings by Alice Camoys. Mother of Margaret Trussell (our line, per Cokayne). Direct ancestress. Added 23 Jul 2026. ||COLLATERAL - THE ELIZABETH DE CLARE NEAR-MISS AGAIN (8 Aug 2026)|| Elizabeth's SISTER Anne Hastings married Sir Thomas Ferrers of TAMWORTH (d.1498), who carried the blood of ELIZABETH DE CLARE (the third coheiress sister, Roger Damory's wife) via Isabel de Verdon and three generations of the Lords Ferrers of Groby. So the Damory-sister's blood married our ancestress's own sister - the second time it comes to the door and stops (cf. Thomas de Camoys's 2nd wife Elizabeth Mortimer). Blood flows into the Tamworth Ferrers, NOT into our Hastings line - collateral, not wired. ||UPGRADED + TAMWORTH CLOSED NEGATIVE 8 Aug 2026 (Visitation of Warwickshire, 'Ferrers of Tamworth Castle' pp.6-7, supplied by Aynsley)|| The marriage is now HERALD-GRADE: 'Sr Tho. Ferrers of Tamworth Kt. = Anne sister of Will'm Lord Hastings' (his father Sir Thomas being '2 sone to Will'm Lo. Ferrers of Groby' x Elizabeth Freville). And the visitation gives the ENTIRE Tamworth daughter-fan for six generations: their daughters married GRESLEY (Graffeth), COCKAYNE of Ashbourne, HOLT, HARPER-adjacent Rushall circles, and PACKINGTON - NONE into our Raleigh/Verney/Trussell/Chamberlain lines. The Tamworth branch of the Elizabeth-de-Clare hunt is therefore CLOSED NEGATIVE; only BADDESLEY CLINTON (Sir Henry Ferrers, the 2nd son named here) remains untested. ||DUGDALE CONFIRMS (pp.820-21, 9 Aug 2026)|| Dugdale's Tamworth pedigree states it exactly: 'Anna filia Leonardi Hastings de Kirby, soror Will. Domini Hastings' m. Thomas Ferrers (d. 22 Aug 1499) - herald AND Dugdale grade now. And Dugdale's full Tamworth daughter-fan across six generations (Willoughby, Bingham, Aston, Gresley, Holt, Cockayne, Packington, Archer, Rous) confirms the CLOSED NEGATIVE: no Tamworth daughter married into our lines.
