Alice Colbroke was a daughter and coheir of Walter Colbroke by Jane Tresithny, and she married John de Vere, bringing a Cornish inheritance into the Oxford family. She is the second of the two Cornish heiresses in this line, a century after Alice Sergeaux, and between them they twice rescued and enriched an Essex earldom.
