✓ Ann, wife of John Smith of Carrick (Reg. of Deeds 74438: 'John Smith late of Carrick in the County of Corke Gent and Anne his wife', mother of the five children named); buried at Ross 26 Jan 1768 as 'Mrs Ann Smyth of Downeen' (Leader's extract from the Rosscarbery registers). SURNAME NOT STATED IN ANY RECORD READ: the son named Freke Smith (b. c.1704) makes her a FREKE by strong inference, and the Hingston Freke site identifies her as Anne, da. of John Freke and Mary Bernard of Bandon (grandda. of William Freke I81019 x Anne Swaine) - that identification is NOT verified (Stirnet's Freke pedigree does not list a John among William's Irish children) and is left note-only; no ring claimed. Leader's extract); Cork & Ross marriage licence bonds index.I132806138022 ||26 Oct 2026 - IDENTIFIED and WIRED on Aynsley's decision|| ✓ ANNE FREKE, b. c.1655, da. of John Freke of Garrettstown, co. Cork, by Mary Bernard; m. 1stly 1677 Francis Beamish (son of Francis Beamish and Catherine Bernard; his will dated 25 Jan 1681/2) - children Anne (m. 1697 John Copinger) and Francis Beamish of Kilmaloda (d. 1749; m. 1726/7 Elizabeth Jervois, da. of Joseph Jervois by Anne's sister Elizabeth Freke); m. 2ndly 1685 (the Beamish Book says 1695) JOHN SMITH [of Carrick, I101828]. Burke's Irish Family Records 1976, 'Beamish' p.97. Her son Freke Smith carries her surname. CORRECTION: the 'Mrs Ann Smyth of Downeen' buried at Ross 26 Jan 1768, entered here earlier today, cannot be a woman born c.1655 and is REMOVED - probably the wife of her son Freke Smyth (register: Jane Townsend, m. 1734; the Hingston material calls her Ann Townsend). Ann's own death not found. Through her mother Mary Bernard she is - if that rung holds - a niece of our Catherine Bernard (I81015), and her first husband her first cousin.
