About
Benjamin Bunbury of Killerig in County Carlow was the founder of the Irish branch of the family, a younger son of the Cheshire Bunburys who came over in the seventeenth century and settled. His descendant married into the Lanes of Lanespark.

Carlow - 3rd son of Thomas Bunbury (b.1605) by Eleanor Birkenhead; SETTLED IN IRELAND with a younger brother and two sisters; OBTAINED KILLERIG AND OTHER LANDS FROM THE EARL OF ARRAN, 1669; will proved 1711. m. ELIZABETH, widow of Matthew Sheppard of Owles, co. Leicester. Sons founded the Bunburys of Johnstown, Killerig, Cranavonane and Moyle; his 5th son MATHEW (our line) settled at Kilfeacle.
