~ Catharine O'Carroll (d. 1506), wife of Sir Edmund Butler MacRichard of Polestown (d. 13 June 1464) and mother of his three sons Sir James (of Callan, d. 1487), Walter and John: Lodge, 'leaving issue by Catharine, (who died in 1506) daughter of Moelrony O'Carroll, Barbatus, three sons, Sir James, Walter, and John'. 'Barbatus' ('the Bearded') is O'Hart's 'Maolruanaidh na Feisoige (Mulroona of the Beard)', Lord of Ely, d. 1443 (AFM 'Mulrony, the son of Teige O'Carroll'), already in this tree (I102096). ~ on Lodge alone: CP X 'Ormond' (p.133 n.(e)) names Sir Edmund but not his wife. RING 2 Nov 2026: the Polestown Butlers (and so the later Earls of Ormond) descend from Teige O'Carroll of Ely, killed at Callan in 1407, as do the Desmond, Ara and Clanricarde lines through his other grandchildren.
