About
Charlemagne, King of the Franks and Emperor of the Romans, is the ancestor from whom a very great many Europeans descend, which does nothing to diminish the fact of it. He is one of the two crowned summits at the head of this family's continental line, reached through the counts of Flanders. Above him the pedigrees thin past Charles Martel, and this book stops there.
