Dervorguilla of Galloway (d.1290), one of the great women of the thirteenth century: she endowed Balliol College in her husband's memory and built SWEETHEART ABBEY, where she was buried with his embalmed heart on her breast. Mother of a King of Scots and of our Eleanor.
