About
Edward Raleigh died in 1508, in his father's lifetime, leaving his young son George to succeed the old knight directly. His will, dated that August and proved within a month, is the document that corrected a century of misdated pedigrees - the older accounts kept him alive to 1517 until Douglas Richardson read the probate. He had married Anne Chamberlain, who outlived and remarried; the royal road runs through their son.
