Elizabeth Cave was a niece of Lord Burghley and a first cousin of Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury. She is NOT an ancestor of this family, and was one of the eight who were struck out when the Lane join was disproved.

Elizabeth Cave, dau. of Roger Cave of Stanford, Northants, by MARGARET CECIL, sister of William Cecil, LORD BURGHLEY - making Elizabeth the great minister's NIECE, and first cousin of Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury. m. 1584 Walter Bagot of Blithfield; mother of Anne (m. Thomas Lane - our line, on the ~ Lane join) and of Sir Hervey Bagot, 1st Bt.
