About

Elizabeth de Burghersh was the daughter of Bartholomew, Lord Burghersh the younger, one of the founder Knights of the Garter who fought at Crecy and Poitiers. Widowed young, she outlived her husband by thirty-four years, dying in 1409 - one of those long medieval widowhoods in which a woman quietly ran everything. Her Burghersh and Badlesmere blood carries further Magna Carta descents beside the ones already counted.
