✓ Geoffrey de Marisco (du Marais, de Mariscis), Justiciar of Ireland 1215-21 and 1226-8, nephew of Archbishop John Cumin of Dublin; d. 1245 in exile in France. Father of Joan, 1st wife of Theobald 2nd Butler (CP II 'Butler' p.448), and of John du Marais in whose issue Joan was coheir; his son William was hanged 1242 for the attempt on Henry III's life, which ruined the family. He is the Geoffrey Marsh who in 1215 was given charge of the boy Maurice FitzThomas of Kerry (I101745) on his return to Ireland (CP VII 'Kerry' p.202). WIFE note-only: he married Eva de Bermingham, widow of Gerald FitzMaurice, 1st lord of Offaly (I99836, d. 1204) - whether Joan was her daughter is not stated, so no ring is claimed.
