About
Gerberga of Saxony (c.913-984) was a daughter of Henry the Fowler, the first Saxon king of Germany, and sister of Emperor Otto the Great. Married first to Gilbert of Lorraine and then to King Louis IV of France, she ruled as one of the most effective queens of the tenth century, twice defending besieged towns in person and acting as regent for her son. Remarkably, our line runs through both marriages; she is an ancestor by her first bed and by her second.
Research notes
GERBERGA of SAXONY (c.913-984), daughter of Henry the Fowler (I99947, already in the tree); wife of Gilbert of Lorraine; mother of Alberada (our line). This rung LOOPS the Roucy line onto the existing Ottonian house. Standard well-documented medieval royal/comital genealogy per the cited authorities; rungs graded, contested parentage marked note-only, not hardened.
