Gershom Herrick, of Shippool (b. 1665, d. 1730), devisee of his father's estate; m. 1st, 1693, Susanna, only dau. and heir of Smithin Smart (by Frances, dau. of Edward Riggs of Riggsdale, co. Cork) - issue Edward (our line), James, John, Henry, George and Mary; m. 2ndly, 1715, Margaret, widow of Lieut.-Col. Capel of Brigadier Sankey's Regt., and had a further son Thomas, of Coolkirkey - WHOSE SON m. 1749 Catherine, dau. of Jasper Lucas of RICHFORDSTOWN (the same Lucas family already in this tree via the Smyths).
