Hawise de Lancaster

✓ Hawise (Helewise) de Lancaster, eldest daughter of Gilbert fitz Reinfrid, lord of Kendal, by Helewise de Lancaster; wife of Peter de Brus of Skelton (d. 1241). Medieval Lands quotes the manuscript descent of Ivo Taillebois naming 'Helewisiam primogenitam ... maritata Petro de Brus seniori, Alicia ... maritata Willo de Lindesay et Serotam ... maritata Alano de Multono' as the three sisters of William de Lancaster 'tertius et ultimus' (d. 1246), and the Lancaster manuscript that 'Petrus le Brus senior' married 'Helewisam' sister of William III. Her son Peter de Brus was one of William III's two heirs in 1246. Through her the Brus, Thweng and ultimately Westropp families descend from the barons of Kendal.
