Added 8 Aug 2026. ||27 Oct 2026 - PARENTS WIRED; FERRERS 'RING' REJECTED|| ✓ CP V 'Ferrers (of Chartley)' pp.584-5: Hawise, da. and h. of Sir Robert de Muscegros of Stowell, Norton and Charlton, Somerset, Kemerton and Boddington, Glos, Hampstead and Aldworth, Berks (d. 27 Dec 1280), 'by Agnes, his wife'; aged 4 at St Thomas the Apostle [21 Dec] 1280 (IPM); first espoused to William de Mortemer of Bridgwater (d. s.p. 1297, marriage unconsummated); papal dispensation 13 Sep 1300 for her marriage to John de Ferrers; livery 12/17 Jul 1302 of the lands of her grandmother Cecily de Muscegros ('Hawysia uxor Johannis de Ferariis filia Roberti de Muchegros neptis dicte Cecilie ... etatis viginti quinque annorum'); m. 2ndly Sir John de Bures; living 24 Jun 1350. CP V expressly rejects the usual account that her mother Agnes was a daughter of William de Ferrers, Earl of Derby, by Margaret de Quincy - 'obviously impossible, for it would make John and Hawise first cousins' - so Agnes's parentage is left open and NO ring onto the Ferrers earls is made.
