About
Dr Henry Jones, Bishop of Clogher and then of Meath, was one of the more formidable churchmen of seventeenth-century Ireland: scoutmaster-general to the army here in the 1650s, vice-chancellor of Trinity College Dublin, and the man who presented the Book of Kells to Trinity, where it has been ever since. He should not be confused with the Joneses of Drombeg, who are a different family entirely and appear elsewhere in this tree.
