About
Honora Sheehan married John Elliott and was the mother of Cornelius Elliott. She was born at Castlemagner in north Cork in 1842, and her father's forename, Cornelius, reappears in her son, which is the only thread tying the two generations together.
Research notes
Honora ("Nora") Sheehan; wife of John Elliott and mother of Cornelius Elliott - now DOCUMENTED. Parish register: m. John Elliott 4 Nov 1865 at St Patrick's, Cork city (residence Bird's Quay); and Cornelius's 1876 civil birth record names his mother as "Honora Elliott formerly Sheehan", confirming the link. Birth/death per attached Ancestry records (b. Castlemagner, north Cork, 30 Sep 1842; d. Cork Dec 1926). FULL 1865 CIVIL RECORD obtained 5 Jul 2026: Hanora Sheehan, 21, spinster, SERVANT, of Birds Quay; her father CORNELIUS SHEEHAN, labourer - the source of her son Cornelius's name; she signed by mark (attested F. [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 24 Jul 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.]
