About
Isabel Marshal was a daughter of William Marshal, the greatest knight of his age, and of Isabel de Clare, the heiress of Leinster. She married Gilbert de Clare, fourth Earl of Hertford, and after his death she married Richard, Earl of Cornwall, brother of Henry the Third and later King of the Romans. She died in 1240. Through her the Marshal and the Gaelic royal blood pass into the Clare line.
