Isabella of Angouleme

Isabella of Angouleme was betrothed to a French nobleman when King John married her instead, which contributed to the war that cost him Normandy. She was perhaps twelve at the time. After John's death she returned to France, married the son of the man she had originally been promised to, and spent the rest of her life at the centre of Poitevin politics.
