About
Jane Westropp was a daughter of Mountiford Westropp of Attyflin and married a Browne of New Grove in 1726. Her daughter Anne married Vere Hunt of Curragh, and so this family's line runs through her into the Hunts.
Research notes
✓ DOCUMENTED both sides (Cokayne, Complete Baronetage V pp.414-15; Burke's LGI 'Westropp of Attyflin' pp.757-60, photographed 21 Jul 2026): Jane, 4th dau. of MOUNTIFORD WESTROPP II of Kilkerin & Attyflin; "m. 1726, Thomas Browne, of Newgrove, co. Clare" per the Westropp pedigree - the Hunt-side sources (Cokayne, Burke's De Vere) call her husband EDMOND Browne: FORENAME CONFLICT flagged, unresolved (the Westropp family's own will-dated pedigree is the stronger witness); the marriage, place and wife are the same on all sources. Mother of Anne Browne (m. Vere Hunt of Curragh 1760 - our line). Her sisters included a GERTRUDE (m. 1728 Luke Hickman of Fenloe) - the Gertrude forename, from Gertrude Berkeley two generations up, recurs through this Limerick/Clare network.
