Research notes
Joan, wife of Robert Ryves of Damory Court; mother of Agnes Ryves (our line) and John Ryves (b.~1514, m. Amye Harvey of Tarent Launceston). Confirmed as Agnes's mother by Hutchins and by her own will ("Reves"/"Ryves"), dated 4 Dec 1560; she died 12 Dec 1560 at Damory Court, buried Blandford. MAIDEN NAME UNESTABLISHED: online trees render her "Joan Sewell Harvey Kyme" - a conflation. 'Harvey' is actually her daughter-in-law Amye Harvey (son John's wife); 'Sewell' is one databases' unsourced guess (~probable at best); 'Kyme' is unsourced. Recorded here as Joan, surname not established. Identity corroborated by Find a Grave (UK & Ireland Index): 'Joan Ryves', b.1490, d. 12 Dec 1560, spouse 'Robert Reve', buried St Peter & St Paul Churchyard, Blandford Forum - matching on every hard fact. (Find a Grave gives her death place as East Orchard, N. Dorset; another source says Damory Castle - left open.) Added June 2026.
