About
John, Lord FitzWalter, held Little Dunmow in Essex and Baynard's Castle in London, the barony descended from Robert FitzWalter, Marshal of the Army of God and the Church - the leader of the Magna Carta barons of 1215. He married Eleanor Percy, and their daughter Alice married the tenth Earl of Oxford, braiding the surety's line into the de Veres three centuries before Jane Vere carried both to Gosfield.
