Julia Mary Elliott

Julia Mary Elliott, Julia to the registers and Mary to everyone who knew her, was born in 1944 of Cork working people: masons on her mother's side and weavers of Blarney Street on her father's. She married Norman Damery in 1971. She worked the unrecorded half of every venture he ever ran, entertaining at home, manning the stands at boat shows, answering the phones in the early days, and she founded a Montessori school and the 1st Cork Crosshaven scout group besides. She died in 2022. The record of this family's twentieth century would show you Norman's businesses; it would not, unless somebody wrote it down, show you Mary.
