About
Kenneth II (Cináed mac Maíl Choluim, r.971-995), King of Alba, raided Northumbria in his first year and by an English tradition was one of the kings who rowed Edgar on the Dee at Chester; the price of a working peace with England. He died violently in 995, by the treachery, the story goes, of the noblewoman Finnguala, avenging her son. His son Malcolm II was our ancestor and his line's last direct male king.
