Levina's brother Kingsmill Pennefather's line marrying across the Cork-Tipperary gentry exactly as Burke's Rathsallagh lineage states. ✓✓ CONFLICT OPENED AND CLOSED THE SAME DAY, 7 Aug 2026 - THE RUNG STANDS AS ORIGINALLY WIRED, AND THE ALARM WAS MINE. RESOLUTION FIRST: Stirnet's 'Kingsmill1' page, which digests BLGI1912 alongside BLG1952, BEB1841 and the Hampshire Visitations, lists SIX children of William Kingsmill of Ballybeg Abbey - '(i) William Kingsmill of Mallow... (ii) John Kingsmill (dsp) (iii) Thomas Kingsmill, Sheriff of Cork (d 1702) had issue (iv) Sydney Kingsmill m. Sir Thomas Fortescue (v) Mary Kingsmill m. Ulysses Burgh, Bishop of Ardagh (vi) LAVINIA KINGSMILL m. MATTHEW PENNEFATHER of Gort'. SYDNEY, MARY AND LAVINIA ARE WILLIAM'S OWN DAUGHTERS, listed after his three sons - not Thomas's children. That agrees with Burke's 'Pennefather of Rathsallagh' p.553, which says outright 'Levina, dau. of William Kingsmill, M.P. of Ballybeg Abbey'. Two independent readings against one. WHAT WENT WRONG: reading the page image, I took the second '(1)(2)(3)' run - Sydney, Mary, Lavinia - as nested UNDER Thomas because it follows the words 'leaving issue,'. In fact Burke's restarts its numbering for daughters at the SAME level as the sons, and the '1. Ann / 2. Dorothea' that follows belongs a level higher again, to Sir Francis. Burke's nested numbering is a genuine trap; I fell into it, and the OCR-derived 6 Aug entry was right all along. RECORDED IN FULL so that the next reader of that page does not repeat it. ⚠ ONE GENUINE PROBLEM SURVIVES, AND IT IS NOT HERE BUT BELOW: Lavinia was born by 1650 (her father died that year), yet the Landed Estates Database gives her son WILLIAM PENNEFATHER OF MARLOW a birth of 1708, which would make her about sixty. The suspect figure is the 1708 birth, NOT the parentage - test it against William of Marlow's own record rather than reopening this rung. It nests her one generation lower: under William of Ballybeg's children it gives '(3) THOMAS, Sheriff of Cork 1697; d. 1702, leaving issue,' and then, indented beneath Thomas, '(1) Sydney, m. Sir Thomas Fortescue, from whom the Earls Claremont. (2) Mary, m. Ulysses de Burgh, Bishop of Ardagh. (3) LAVINIA, m. MATTHEW PENNEFATHER, OF GORT, and had issue.' ON THIS READING LAVINIA IS WILLIAM'S GRANDDAUGHTER, DAUGHTER OF THOMAS, and a whole generation is missing from this tree - exactly the shape of the Kildare 5th Earl fix of 6 Aug 2026. ⚠ BUT THE TWO BURKE'S ARTICLES CONTRADICT EACH OTHER: 'Pennefather of Rathsallagh' (p.553, page image read 7 Aug 2026) says plainly 'MATTHEW PENNEFATHER, m. LEVINA, DAU. OF WILLIAM KINGSMILL, M.P. of Ballybeg Abbey, co. Cork'. Same publisher, same shelf, opposite answers. NOTE ALSO that the 6 Aug entry rested on an OCR SWEEP of the 1912 text and its own note warned that 'OCR-derived details [are] to be verified against the page images' - this IS that verification, and it disagrees. Burke's nested numbering, (1)(2)(3) within 1.2.3., is notoriously easy to mis-nest by OCR, in either direction. ⚠ AND NEITHER READING IS CHRONOLOGICALLY COMFORTABLE. If Lavinia were Thomas's daughter she was born c.1670-85, yet her son Kingsmill Pennefather was High Sheriff of Tipperary in 1703 and so born by about 1680 - impossible. If she were William's daughter she was born by 1650 (he d. 1650), yet her son William of Marlow was born 1708 - she would have been nearly sixty. SOMETHING IS WRONG ON BOTH SIDES, which may mean a missing Pennefather generation as well as a missing Kingsmill one. NOTHING HAS BEEN REWIRED. The existing descent from William of Ballybeg STANDS, flagged. THE TEST: the will of Thomas Kingsmill, Sheriff of Cork, d.1702, and the Pennefather marriage settlement - either would name Lavinia's father outright. [SUPERSEDED - this WAS framed as the most consequential open question because the Sydmonton ascent and the Pepys cousinship hang from it, but it was RESOLVED the same day; see HOLD RELEASED at the very end.] ||BRIDGE FORMERLY DECLARED CLOSED 6 Aug 2026|| Her descent now documented three ways: LGI 1912 Kingsmill p.235 (dau. of William of Ballybeg Abbey by Dorothy Jane St Leger), LGI 1912 Pennefather p.418 ('m. Levina Kingsmill, heir of Ballyowen, aft. New Park'), and the grandfather Sir Francis/Sydmonton ascent. Samuel Pepys's wife Elizabeth St Michel was her FIRST COUSIN. ||HOLD RELEASED - FINAL, 8 Aug 2026|| The 'open question' / 'most consequential' language earlier in this note is the SUPERSEDED original 7 Aug alarm, kept only for the record. It was resolved the SAME DAY it was raised: Lavinia IS William of Ballybeg's OWN daughter (Stirnet's Kingsmill1 digest + Burke's 'Pennefather of Rathsallagh' p.553, against a misreading of Burke's nested daughter-numbering on the 'Hermitage Park' page). The SYDMONTON ASCENT and the PEPYS COUSINSHIP (Elizabeth St Michel, Mrs Samuel Pepys, was Lavinia's first cousin) both STAND and may go live wherever staged - the editorial hold is obsolete. Only residual, one rung DOWN and non-fatal: William Pennefather of Marlow's alleged 1708 birth (Lavinia b. by 1650, so the DATE is the suspect, not the parentage); belt-and-braces check = the will of Thomas Kingsmill, Sheriff of Cork, d.1702. Do NOT reopen this Kingsmill rung.
