Margaret Foliot was the mother of the man who commanded the left wing at Agincourt, and she was a coheir to her own brother. She replaces a wrong woman: this tree carried an unsourced 'Elizabeth le Latimer' in her place. ||FOLIOT-LOOP CANDIDATE 8 Aug 2026|| CP (CAMOYS p.126) makes Margaret 'da. of Richard Foliot and coheir to her br. another Richard F.' - and CP (Oxford, entry VII) makes JANE FOLIOT (I99537, wife of Alphonse de Vere) also a da. of a Sir Richard Foliot. ||RESOLVED 8 Aug 2026 (CP FOLIOT, supplied by Aynsley)|| They are NOT sisters. Margaret's father is Richard Foliot (I100366), son of JORDAN Foliot 1st Lord (I100543, d.1298-99), and Margaret was coheir to her brother Richard (d. a minor & unm. 1325-26). Jane's son John de Vere was b.1313, so Jane was born c.1290 - a full generation too early to be a daughter of this Richard (b.1284). Jane's 'Sir Richard Foliot' (I100542) is a DIFFERENT, earlier/collateral Foliot, so the Camoys-de Vere loop is REFUTED. Margaret's line is instead now extended up into the Foliot barony until the printed article was read.

So MARGARET FOLIOT, wife of Sir John Camoys (I100072) and MOTHER OF THOMAS, 1ST BARON CAMOYS, K.G. (I99591), the Agincourt commander. She was a COHEIR to her brother Richard Foliot, which means Foliot property came to the Camoys with her. ⚠ POSSIBLE FOLIOT CONVERGENCE, DELIBERATELY NOT WIRED: this tree ALREADY holds JANE FOLIOT (I99537), 'dau. of SIR RICHARD FOLIOT', wife of Alfonso de Vere and mother of the 7th Earl of Oxford - also a direct ancestress, on the de Vere line. Two women called daughter of a Richard Foliot, both ancestresses of the compiler, by two different roads. They are NOT the same generation (Alfonso de Vere d.1329; Margaret's son Thomas was b. c.1350), so they are more likely an aunt and a niece, or two generations of the same house, than sisters - and the Foliot pedigree has not been read. NO relationship is asserted between them here. If it proves out it is a genuine convergence; if it does not, nothing is lost.
