Owain Glyndwr

Owain Glyndwr, the last Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales, raised the great revolt of 1400 that for a decade tore Wales from English rule; he summoned parliaments at Machynlleth and Harlech, planned a Welsh church and universities, and then, when the rising failed, simply vanished - never captured, never betrayed, his grave unknown to this day. Shakespeare made him a wizard; the Welsh made him a sleeping king who will return. He is a direct ancestor of this family.
