Ralph de Camoys was summoned to Simon de Montfort's parliament in December 1264 - the assembly usually called the first English parliament in the modern sense - and so became the first Lord Camoys. He was already forty and more when he succeeded his father.

✓ DOCUMENTED: 'RALPH DE CAMOYS, s. and h. of Ralph de Camoys, senior, by Ascelina DE TORPEL, suc. his father in (1259) 43 Hen. III, being then aged 40 and upwards, and was sum. to (MONTFORT'S) Parl. as a Baron (LORD CAMOYS) 18 Dec. (1264) 49 Hen. III. He d. 1277.' THE FIRST LORD CAMOYS, and summoned to MONTFORT'S PARLIAMENT of 1264-65 - the one that first called burgesses from the boroughs. Born therefore c.1219 or earlier.
