About
Ascelina de Torpel brought a Northamptonshire name into the tree: the Torpels held their fee of the honour of Peterborough, documented in the abbey's cartularies and the county's feet of fines. As wife of Ralph de Camoys she was mother of the first Lord Camoys, and the barony that would one day carry the Mortimer question runs through her.
