About
Rodulf de Warenne, a knight of the pays de Caux, appears in the charters of Rouen for over forty years, selling and giving lands to Holy Trinity with his wives and sons. His younger son William took the family name to Hastings and died Earl of Surrey.

✓ EYC FIRST-HAND (Early Yorkshire Charters vol.8, Clay, pp.1-3 + charters pp.84-86, read 14 Sep 2026; resting on Loyd, YAJ xxxi (1934) 97-113): RODULF DE WARENNE, attested c.1030-1074 (Duke Robert's St-Amand charter c.1030-35; Preaux 1053 with wife Beatrix; Holy Trinity sales 1055 with Beatrix, 1059 and 1074 with 2nd wife Emma and sons Rodulf and William); father of William 1st Earl of Surrey (our line).
