Roger Cave, Esq., of Stanford, Northamptonshire (d. 1586); m. Margaret Cecil, sister of Lord Burghley. The Caves of Stanford are a documented gentry family (later Cave Bts). END OF LINE as entered. Added July 2026. ||PARENTAGE + DANVERS CORRECTION BANKED - NOT WIRED (24 Aug 2026 handover, same file)|| Roger = 4th son of SIR THOMAS CAVE of Stanford (c.1497-1558, will PROB 11/41/34) x ELIZABETH DANVERS - and the Danvers branch matters: she was of WATERSTOCK (da. of John Danvers of Waterstock & Chamberhouse d.1509 x Margaret Hampden; estate-descent proof, Macnamara pp.185-6), NOT of Dauntsey. The circulating Dauntsey attribution - and with it the claimed Beaufort/royal descent - FAILS TWICE (wrong branch: Dauntsey = half-blood collateral via Richard of Prestcote; wrong Stradling son: the Beaufort blood went via Edward, not Sir John). NO royal descent through Danvers. His own will PROB 11/69/479 names 'my sonne in lawe Walter Baggett' and 'my mother in lawe Mistres Jane Cecill'. Not wired as records - same Bentley gate as the Cecil note on I99047.
