About
Roger de Quincy, second Earl of Winchester and Constable of Scotland, son of the Magna Carta surety Saer de Quincy, was one of the great cross-border magnates of the thirteenth century, holding lands from Leicestershire to Galloway by his marriage to Helen, the Lord of Galloway's daughter. He left no son, and his three daughters carried his blood into half the baronage - two of them, by the Ferrers and Zouche marriages, into this family twice over.
