About
Sancho Ramírez (c.1042-1094), King of Aragon and Navarre, carried his kingdom's banner to Rome, becoming a vassal of St Peter and binding Aragon to the reforming papacy. He founded Jaca with its great romanesque cathedral, and died as his father had: struck by an arrow, reconnoitring the walls of Moorish Huesca, having made his sons swear to finish the siege. They did. Our line runs through Ramiro the Monk.
