About

Sir John Tyrrell of Heron in East Horndon, Essex, was three times Speaker of the House of Commons, in 1427, 1431 and 1437, and Treasurer of the Household to the young Henry VI - a lawyer-administrator trusted with both the Commons chair and the king's purse. He died in April 1437, weeks after his last election to the chair. He is the second Speaker in this tree, and the more decorated of the pair.
