About

Tewdwr Mawr ap Cadell, 'Tewdwr the Great', was a tenth-century prince of the southern Welsh royal house of Deheubarth, a grandson-line of Hywel Dda the lawgiver. His name mattered more than his career: his grandson Rhys ap Tewdwr made it the patronymic of the Tudor-ancestral royal line of the south. He is a quiet rung between the lawgiver's house and the last kings of Deheubarth, on one of our Welsh roads.
