Thomas Bunbury of Stanney held the family's Cheshire estate in the sixteenth century and married Bridget Aston of Aston. Their son Sir Henry was knighted in 1603, and from Stanney the family's Irish branch would spring - the road that leads from the Wirral marshes to this ancestry.
