About

Walter de Clifford (died about 1190), marcher lord of Clifford Castle, is remembered for his daughter: Fair Rosamund, Henry II's beloved mistress, buried at Godstow. The Cliffords took their name from his castle on the Wye; and through his son the line runs down to us - Rosamund's brother is our ancestor.
