About

William II (c.982-1018), Count of Provence, son of the Liberator, held the county in the generation after the Saracen expulsion, as the comital house settled into its long shared rule of the Provençal lands. His sister Constance was Queen of France; his own line ran on in Provence. Both roads are ours.
