William Towhead, Count of Poitou, made himself master of all Aquitaine and married Gerloc, a daughter of Rollo the Viking founder of Normandy, who took the Frankish name Adela with her new faith. In their son the blood of the northmen and the old duchy ran together - and every rung of this family's Aquitaine descent carries it.
