About

Yaroslav the Wise was Grand Prince of Kiev at the height of its power, codified the first written law of the Rus, built the cathedral of Saint Sophia there, and married his daughters into half the royal houses of Europe. One of them, Anne, became Queen of France, and it is through her that Kiev enters this family.
