About
Anne of Kiev was a daughter of Yaroslav the Wise, and in 1051 she was sent west to marry Henry the First of France. She could read and write, which her husband could not, and she signed her name in Cyrillic on documents where he made a cross. She was regent for her son. She is the door through which the Rurikid princes of Kiev enter this family.
