✓ Berenguela of Leon, Empress of Constantinople (b. 1204, d. Constantinople 12 Apr 1237), daughter of Alfonso IX, King of Leon, and his second wife Berengaria of Castile (I99889 x I99890) - Alberic of Trois-Fontaines: daughter of 'Berengaria' and the 'regi Legionensi', 'sororem Fernandi de Castella'; m. 1224 John of Brienne. Her son's charter of 1294 names 'madame Berangiere... nostre mere'. RING 20 Oct 2026 into Alfonso IX x Berengaria (F99750). This is the kinship to Queen Eleanor of Castile noted in the Wigmore narrative. Source: Medieval Lands (fmg.ac, Cawley), 'Jerusalem' (Brienne).
