Dunlaing mac Enda Niada gave his name to the Ui Dunlainge, the dynasty that held the kingship of Leinster in rotation for three hundred years from their seat at Naas. He is said to have lived in the time of Saint Patrick, in the late fifth century. He is the deepest rung this family's documented tree reaches on any side, Irish or English, and he stands forty-four generations above the present day. Above him the genealogies continue, through Enna Nia and Bresal Belach to Cathair Mor and eventually to myth, and that is where this family stops counting.
